Character Analysis of Romeo Montague
Role: Romeo's role in the play consists of one of the main two characters who fall in love, and has a constant occurrence throughout it. Romeo's character is perceived as an optimistic ladies man, who defines his love from a woman's beauty, a gentleman whose feelings of love aren't communal by the lady he admires and a man who uses the poetic language of sonnets to articulate his emotions. Romeo's embroidered language in his untimely speeches characterizes him as a undeveloped and inexpert lover who is more in love with the perception of being in love than with the woman herself.
Romeo was seeming as a lively, head-over-heels teen who fell in love with the daughter of his family's (Parents Sir and Lady Montague in particular) enemy. As the play deeply conveys their true love for each other, Romeo's role was seen as one who was deeply in love with a woman and would strive for anything to be with his beloved Juliet, when obviously it would've been strictly forbidden, given the feuds between their families.
At the concluding of the play, Romeo commits suicide beside his love Juliet, the definitive representation of devotion for his one and only Juliet seeing as his life no longer had importance without her. The influence that Romeo had in the play conveyed of his role making Juliet take life of herself, Juliet's cousin Tybalt being murdered and his best friend Mercutio being killed. All these events were resulted by Romeo's character throughout the Montague's and Capulet's lives.
By Romeo's existence, his role was basically what caused the tragedy of the whole tale as he shared the main part of the tragedy when himself and Juliet committed suicide. This being caused, their death affected their families immensely as they ended their feuds when they realised what damage they had caused. Romeo has contributed in this tragedy as a result of causing the death of Juliet and the cause of the death of himself, as his role had an influence on other characters. Romeo's role as an optimistic lover has influenced the word "Romeo" in various languages to become a synonym for a zealous gentleman devotee.
