Romeo's Importance in the Tragedy
Importance: Romeo's importance in the Shakespearean tragedy was that he was the key lover between the two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, who eventually took their life for each other. Romeo was the ladies man who cherished women, especially beautiful women, and ultimately found the one he utterly sought to bestow his heart for through a single gaze towards her. Due to this, his importance was highly comprehensible as he was the main focus showing a particular young man's despair of being rejected by a young woman who he loved (or so thought), Rosaline, as well as the focal point of loving a particular woman so much that you cannot bear to live with yourself as long as she is not in the picture (Juliet).
Romeo's importance link with the death of himself and Juliet, his intimate lover, as the play shines the spotlight on the two, as they convey the life inside Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, and demonstrates how that type of love can impact a person so much that it ultimately lead to killing themselves. In reference to that sentence, Romeo's character is represented as a man who love's lots of women, although when it comes to a woman he truthfully thinks he loves, his personality, behaviour, thoughts and actions seem to transform immensely. These attributes convey the importance of how Romeo changes throughout experiencing strong and devoted love.
Without Romeo in the play, it wouldn't be a Tragedy. There would be no death of Juliet, no death of Mercutio, no death of Tybalt and no death of Paris. All these deaths are key events in the play, which is a Tragedy, and as Romeo was the main reason for their deaths, he was strongly important for the story. A tragedy in Shakespearean definition is the downfall of the main character containing tragic events. Without the deaths of the main characters, there would be no tragic events in the story therefore no tragedies would occur. Romeo Montague as one of the main characters alongside Juliet, was the focal point of the story as he was present throughout it, evaluating the tragic turns of events that lead to the death of the lovers.
Romeo's importance in the play is greatly essential, as without Romeo Montague the Shakespearean Tragedy would not be a Tragedy at all. Romeo's role in the tragedy influenced the death of many other main characters, as he had a very important role in the unfolding of the story.
